Porridge Cafe

Porridge Cafe - custom creation
Oatmeal with blueberries, strawberries, bananas, peanut butter and dark chocolate

4.5 stars, but I’m rounding up because I really like small niche shops that focus on one thing and do it right.

By the way, this place is NOT closed – it just moved to Victoria.

This place is cool. If you want porridge, you’ll really like this place. It’s a tiny pop up shop outside of Victoria station. Used to be in Shoreditch, but they moved and will be there for at least the next couple of months.

Basically, all they do is porridge. Mostly breakfast options, but a few savory/lunch options, although that is only served Monday-Friday. On the weekends, it’s only breakfast. Everything is really fresh and good quality and what’s great about this place is that they really go for moderation. A lot of times oatmeal is drenched in sugar, but here, it’s the extras like fresh fruit, peanut butter, seeds, etc. that really provide the flavor. The oatmeal itself is great, too, but the combination of everything is the winner.

Porridge Cafe - peaches & cream
Oatmeal with strawberries, peaches, and cream

For one oatmeal, we kind of had them improve on a mix between two options on the menu. The final product was an amazing oatmeal bowl with blueberries, strawberries, bananas, a scoop of peanut butter, and some dark chocolate sauce on top. This one was quite substantial and hearty.

We also got the oatmeal with strawberries, peaches and cream. The strawberries and peaches were very fresh and the cream on top added some richness. Both were absolutely delicious.

Porridge CafeThe people are friendly and allow customization, and the product is great quality. Price is right. I do wish they had more savory options and provided them on the weekend as well. Perhaps if they grow, they will incorporate more items in their menu, but even for now it’s fantastic and worth trying.

Just FYI – the place is small with no toilet.
