Tappo Thin Crust Pizza

Marinara & El Greco
Marinara & El Greco

Party of 4 on a Saturday around 1 pm. Some tables were occupied, but the place is actually spacious and at no time was it more than 1/2ish filled.

I’ve been to a couple of the other restaurants in this chain and they are really all 100% identical with the exception of the ambiance and the service. I like this setting more than I like Spunto and Posto. Posto has the worst atmosphere, in my opinion, although I haven’t tried Vezzo or Gruppo yet. Posto is tiny and the majority of the inside is taken up by a bar. It seems like a pub, really. Tappo was much more similar to Spunto, but seemed even a bit more modern and airier.

Now obviously this pizza is thin crust, but it is not what people think of when they say thin crust. “Thin Crust” usually means a lot thicker than this, but really this is as thin as it gets. It’s paper thin. Cracker like really. But it’s occasionally a nice change of pace from normal pizzas.

The best part is you really do feel better eating it because it’s so light. But as thin as it is, I’ve never seen the crust not be able to support the toppings. It’s sturdy and works well.

I like that they have the Italian Herb mix, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, salt, and pepper at each table so that you can adjust flavoring. I also like that they bring entire water jugs to leave at your table so you can refill at your convenience instead of tracking someone down.

There are pre-created pizzas on the menu, but you can customize any of them or create your own, and they definitely have sufficient toppings to chose from.

I also really appreciate that if you split a large pizza with two separate halves, they average the price instead of charging the entire sum for the more expensive one.

Tappo - TappoMarinara (unlike most marinara pizzas this one comes with cheese) – added fresh basil, sweet red onions, and fresh garlic. I wasn’t disappointed with the amount of toppings they put on, which was great. A lot of times you add toppings and they just sprinkle a few pieces on. Was delicious.

El Greco – Tomato sauce, mozzarella, feta, sweet red onions, green peppers, tomatoes, olives. The best part of this pizza to me is the feta cheese. Note that the tomatoes on this pizza are roasted, they are just raw tomatoes. Overall a really great pizza.
